Unplanned Surgery Coordinator
Drive Safe, Timely Emergency Surgery Care at Princess Alexandra Hospital
Join Princess Alexandra Hospital as the Unplanned Surgery Coordinator and provide expert clinical leadership across emergency surgical services. You will coordinate real‐time surgical flow, support multidisciplinary decision‐making and drive safe, timely access to unplanned surgery across one of Queensland's largest tertiary perioperative services. This role is a temporary part‐time position until March 31, 2027 (52 hours per fortnight).
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and oversee unplanned surgery workflow and escalation processes in real time
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient readiness and theatre flow
* Support prioritisation and decision‐making for urgent and emergency surgical cases
* Lead quality improvement, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives
About You
* Advanced perioperative nursing experience within acute or tertiary healthcare settings
* Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Proven ability to coordinate complex clinical workflows and manage escalation pathways
* Commitment to evidence‐based practice, patient safety and continuous improvement
