About The Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is seeking motivated and reliable Wastewater Civil Construction Assistants to provide support and assistance in the delivery of civil construction and maintenance activities within Council's Infrastructure Services, with a primary focus on wastewater, water, drainage and associated civil works.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Undertake labouring duties associated with the construction, maintenance and repair of water, sewer and drainage infrastructure.
* Assist with water service repairs, maintenance activities and water meter reading as required. Support the construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of pits, manholes and associated wastewater infrastructure.
* Perform concrete labouring and assist with road, kerb, gutter and drainage repair works.
* Operate, maintain and care for small plant, tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
* Assist with site preparation, excavation, set‐out and general civil construction activities as directed.
* Complete tasks as directed by the Supervisor in line with operational requirements.
* Ensure all work complies with safety standards and procedures.
* Maintain accurate records of work activities.
* Engage in team activities and contribute to a positive team environment.
About You

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. To be successful in this position you will need:

* Current and maintained Driver's Licence
* SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)

It will be highly favourable if you possess any of the following:

* One year of relevant hands‐on experience in a similar role or industry.
* Certificate in Civil Construction or trade qualification.
* Plant Operations (Machinery Tickets).
* Basic literacy, numeracy and electronic device usage skills.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 2 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $53,551.22 ($27.10 to $31.17 per hour). The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
