Company Description
ELAB is a specialist acoustic and vibration engineering consultancy, working across environmental acoustics, building acoustics and compliance. We partner closely with architects, designers and project teams to deliver technically rigorous solutions that complement architecture rather than fight it.
Our work spans health, residential, education, commercial and infrastructure projects, from early concept through to construction. We operate nationally and maintain a strong research and innovation culture alongside day-to-day consulting.
Role Description
This is a hands-on consulting role. From day one, you'll be involved in real projects, real sites and real decision-making. Acoustic engineering doesn't just happen behind a screen — it happens on site, in modelling software, and in direct conversations with clients and contractors.
You'll gain exposure to:
• Site inspections and acoustic measurements across Victoria
• Environmental and building noise monitoring
• Data processing, analysis and interpretation
• Acoustic modelling (CadnaA, SoundPLAN, INSUL, Treble)
• Reports, planning assessments and compliance documentation
• Australian standards and regulatory frameworks (EPA, NCC, AS/NZS)
Some after-hours work (particularly for noise monitoring) is part of acoustic consulting and is an expected part of the role. Flexibility is provided where possible.
A
valid driver's licence
and
Australian work rights
are required.

• Is adaptable and takes responsibility seriously
Suitable backgrounds include engineering, physics, architecture, audio/acoustics or signal processing.
Why join E-LAB
• Real responsibility early in your career
• Direct mentoring from senior acoustic consultants
• Diverse, technically challenging projects
• Clear development pathway in a specialist profession
• No timesheets
• Paid education (including Diploma in Acoustics – AAAC)
