About the role
Aurizon is offering an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in rail through our Operational Maintainer (Rail Shunter) Traineeship in West Kalgoorlie.
As a trainee, you'll be part of a structured program where you'll gain practical, hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification in rail operations (shunting). You'll work alongside experienced team members in a fast-paced environment, developing the skills needed to build a long-term career with Australia's largest rail freight operator.
What you'll be doing:
* Undertaking both classroom and on-the-job training
* Safely loading and unloading customer products
* Inspecting rollingstock and carrying out minor repairs
* Performing brake tests on trains
* Assisting with shunting and marshalling operations
* Communicating effectively with depot personnel via radio and in person
About you:
We're looking for individuals with:
* C Class Drivers Licence (mandatory)
* A strong commitment to safety
* Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Flexibility to work day and night shifts (up to 12 hours), including weekends
Please note that all applicants will be required to undergo psychometric testing, a drug and alcohol test and carry out a criminal history check
