Aboriginal Midwifery Services Coordinator
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated midwife to coordinate and provide quality health services to the Aboriginal people of far western New South Wales. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of care for mothers and children through pregnancy, infancy, and ongoing into childhood.
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years' experience in midwifery, preferably in a community role, and possess or be able to obtain authorisation as an immunisation provider in New South Wales within 3 months of commencing employment.
You will work closely with our Child and Family Program to provide safe and effective community midwifery services. This will involve mentoring and supporting Aboriginal Health Practitioners and trainees, coordinating midwifery treatments and care activities, and working collaboratively with maternity, medical, obstetric, and paediatric staff.
As a coordinator, you will develop and maintain positive relationships with our midwifery team and stakeholders, providing emotional and social support to women, especially those with high needs.
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate understanding and commitment to the principles of primary health care and its relation to maternal and infant health in Aboriginal communities. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a community-based setting and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
