Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support a WildFly migration project within a structured enterprise environment. This engagement will focus on upgrading, stabilising and optimising existing application infrastructure to ensure performance, security and long-term maintainability.
This role suits a hands-on engineer who is comfortable working in legacy-to-modern transition environments and can operate with minimal supervision.
This is a contract-based hybrid role for a WildFly & JBOSS Senior Developer with project management responsibilities, ideally located in Greater Adelaide Area with partial work-from-home flexibility. The selected candidate will design, develop, and customizse applications within the WildFly and JBOSS framework to meet project requirements, with a strong focus on upgrading.
Responsibilities include managing deployments, troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and working collaboratively with team members to ensure timely project delivery. The role also includes elements of project management, such as task prioritization, timelines, team coordination, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
Lead or support migration of applications to updated WildFly versions
Assess existing architecture and identify risks or compatibility issues
Troubleshoot deployment, configuration and runtime issues
Optimise performance and ensure stability post-migration
Work collaboratively with internal technical teams
Document technical changes and provide knowledge transfer where required
Required Experience
Strong experience with WildFly / JBoss application server environments
Solid Java enterprise application experience
Experience in application migration and upgrade projects
Strong understanding of application server configuration and deployment processes
Experience working in structured enterprise or government environments
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capability
Qualifications
Proficiency in WildFly, JBOSS, and Java EE development environments
Expertise in software deployment, server configurations, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting
Experience with agile methodologies, project planning, and managing cross-functional teams
Strong understanding of software architecture, API integration, and application lifecycle management
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes is an advantage
Relevant certifications or a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred
