About The Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

About The Opportunity

Supervise a Signal discipline delivery work group to deliver work allocated by the Area Manager to ensure the operational integrity and efficiency of signalling assets in a designated section of rail corridor.

* Promote and encourage a positive culture within the team.
* Supervise employee and external contractor performance and productivity.
* Plan and deliver allocated minor maintenance works.
* Daily preparation of Work Group activity sheets.
* Ensure that only suitably accredited or competent staff perform the tasks.
* Conduct regular Work Group Briefings and Tool-box meetings.
* Determine appropriate resource allocation including personnel, plant and material allocation and prioritisation.
* Manage on call responsibilities ensuring coverage is maintained efficiently.
* Effective maintenance of materials, tools, vehicles and equipment to functional standard.
* Conduct mandatory systematic inspection, examination, condition monitoring and functional checks on the rail infrastructure and take appropriate action to ensure rail infrastructure is in a safe operational condition.
* Install and maintain mechanical signalling locking, and interlocking devices infrastructure and equipment.
* Maintain aerial signal/telecommunications lines and cables.
* Recommend improvements in the maintenance and works processes.
* Optimise infrastructure performance and availability.
* Respond to emergency situations as required.
* Complete comprehensive planning for the daily Work Group tasks.
* Ensure compliance in the Ellipse system and processes are followed accordingly.
* Complete Work Group costing for all completed tasks.
* Assist the Area Manager in the overall planning of works.
* Participate in projects and submit work requests to ensure asset improvement and reliability and undertake other project duties as requested.
* Ensures that designated work has been completed in accordance with appropriate ARTC and signalling standards.

What do we want from you?

* Detailed knowledge of a single rail infrastructure discipline
* Certificate IV Rail Signalling
* Ability to supervise teams for effective performance
* Knowledge of or an awareness of Work, Health and Safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation
* Safe working qualified (PO1 minimum, PO2 desirable)
* Drivers Licence Class C
* ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or demonstrated ability to attain as per Signals Competency Assessment (EST-20-03)
