About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Telecommunications Solution Architect to join the Essential Energy Operations Change Delivery team (in the Assets and Digital Division).
This is a secondment opportunity until April 2026. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy's operational footprint with Port Macquarie being the desired location.
Reporting to the Manager Telecommunications Networks, you will be accountable for the design, planning and
ongoing development of Essential Energy's Telecommunications Architecture ensuring alignment between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions.
As our business moves towards being a Digital Utility this role is pivotal in setting technology strategies, policies, standards and practices.
The Telecommunications Solution Architect is further responsible for developing and maintaining telecommunications architecture and processes that ensure the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organisation
Preferred Technical Expertise
Candidates with demonstrated experience in the design, deployment, and support of complex network and infrastructure solutions will be highly regarded. In particular, we are seeking individuals with proven capabilities across the following domains:
* MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) - including traffic engineering and service provider integration.
* Data Centre Networking - encompassing high-availability architectures, virtualization, and interconnectivity.
* SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Networking) and ACI - with hands-on deployment and policy configuration experience.
* Enterprise Firewall Solutions - including next-generation firewall technologies and security policy enforcement.
* Load Balancing Technologies - such as application delivery controllers and global traffic management.
* Cloud Infrastructure - with practical knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle), including networking, security, and automation.
About You
You are a specialised professional with substantial experience in Telecommunications Architecture, strategy, and roadmap design, possessing expert knowledge in data communications technologies including WAN/LAN, fibre-based IP telecommunications, cloud, SaaS connectivity, SDWAN, and network security.
You have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage complex technical projects and programs of work, including change management within large enterprises. In addition, your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to articulate benefits of changes, influence outcomes, and motivate colleagues in a dynamic and evolving environment
Required Qualifications.
* Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications
* Minimum 8 years working experience working in telecommunications technologies.
