Who are we looking for?
GHD's Surface Water & Catchments Group delivers an extensive range of hydrology, hydraulics and water resource projects and provides specialist water-related services to a diverse range of public and private clients.
Our South Queensland Team is seeking a Water Resources Engineer – Technical Director to be based in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, or Toowoomba. This exciting role provides technical leadership and requires a motivated and experienced engineer to be involved in the delivery of substantive hydrologic and hydraulic aspects of engineering design and analysis for a range of multi-disciplinary projects.
Working with an energetic, collaborative and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
* Winning and delivering across a spectrum of surface water projects in support of large-scale Transport, renewable energy and sustainability projects, risk-based assessments for large dams or tailings storage facilities, and conventional flood studies.
* Acting as Technical Lead, Project Manager or Project Director to guide key projects and mentor other staff.
* Overseeing the application of software tools in a strategic manner to facilitate impact assessment, risk assessments, concept design, and compliance.
What You Will Bring To The Team
* A degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, data science/ analytics or similar with industry experience.
* A detailed understanding of guidelines and methodologies relevant to your skills (e.g. ARR 2019 methodologies and techniques).
* Applied experience supporting infrastructure design through the application of various hydrologic and hydraulic packages.
* The ability to apply hydrologic and hydraulic skills in transport infrastructure or large multi-disciplinary projects in the resources, renewables or tailings sectors.
* Hands-on experience delivering significant hydrology/hydraulic projects will be essential. GHD utilises a vast array of hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrodynamic and water balance packages including Goldsim; 2D hydraulics programs such as Tuflow and HECRAS; GIS and other compatible software.
* Proficiency with advanced tools such as CFD (computational fluid dynamics), risk assessment software (LifeSim), programming packages (Python or R) or civil design packages (12D/ Civil3D) will be highly regarded.
* The ability and willingness to provide technical mentorship for others.
* Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and strong business acumen, with the ability to stay ahead of industry trends, embrace new technologies, and identify opportunities in emerging markets. remain at the forefront of the water resources.
