About your opportunity: In this position you will provide high-level clinical skills, knowledge, and leadership in the provision of child protection counsel and intervention for children at risk of, or who have been subject to abuse and/or neglect, and their family/carer networks. The position may be required to work across a varied range of other clinical areas within the Cassowary Hub as directed by the Team Leader of Allied Health Cassowary. The position will work collaboratively and creatively as part of a multidisciplinary team with other government and non-government partners to contribute to a whole of system child protection promotion across the Cairns and Hinterland and surrounding Hospital and Health Services for Far North Queensland. About your role: Applying an expert level of knowledge/expertise, the position will develop and provide high level education and training to enhance child protection and early intervention frameworks for Queensland Health staff across the health service, including other government and non-government stakeholders. Provide a consultation liaison service for Queensland Health staff across Cassowary Hub and other child protection partners such as the Department of Child Safety and Queensland Police Service where child protection concerns/risk factors are identified. Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and child protection risk assessments and provide clinical support and guidance in relation to the outcomes/recommendations of the assessment to other clinicians working with the child and/or the child's carer/family. Provide clinical practice supervision/mentoring to less experienced health staff, allied health practitioners and undergraduate Social Work students. Provide expert specialist counsel to professionals and operational managers/supervisors and other key stakeholders regarding the expansion, adaption or modification of clinical practice that ensures Queensland Health child protection policies and State-wide legislation are appropriately applied across the continuum of care.
