In your new role you will be working closely with staff and the elective surgery department.
About us:
The Elective Surgery Unit manages the waitlist for elective surgery patients referred to Cairns Hospital and provides advice and support to the rural facilities of Innisfail, Atherton and Mareeba. It is also responsible for outsourcing of suitable patients to other facilities ensuring Surgery Connect business rules are applied. The surgical specialties include Ear Nose Throat (ENT), Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastics & Reconstructive surgery, General Surgery, Vascular, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology & Maxillofacial. This position also includes clinical auditing of all patients registered on the elective surgery waitlist. In addition, this role will provide support and direction to other non-clinical personnel as required.

About your opportunity:
* In this position you will develop clear communication, liaison and collaborative working relationships with Surgery Connect, Cairns Private Providers, Cairns Hospital medical teams; allied health; other staff across the continuum of care.
* You will escalate clinical concerns, adverse events, critical incidents, 'near misses' and complaints to the Co-director Nursing and Operations and relevant Manager.
* You will help Identify surgical patients for inclusion in the Surgery Connect Program through the application of inclusion /exclusion criteria and protocols.
