In March 2023 Deakin Private Hospital open as iMH's first private mental health hospital. An Aurora Healthcare and Medibank partnership. Deakin Private Hospital is a 52-bed hospital, with a dedicated 12 bed PTSD/Trauma Unit for military and first responder personnel. iMH hospitals provide an innovative model of patient care which allow private patients to receive the right care in the right location at the right time. Services include overnight admissions, a day only hospital, group therapy programs and a hospital in the home service.
We are seeking to employ experienced Chefs/Cooks to join our busy Hospital Services Department, with one full-time and one part-time position available. The successful applicants will be willing to work a rotating roster and will join a team that strives to deliver outstanding care to our patients.
Qualifications & experience
* Certificate 3 in commercial cookery or equivalent.
* Food Safety Certificate/Supervisor.
* An understanding of HACCP principals.
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role (Chef/Cook).
* Excellent knowledge surrounding food allergens and special dietary requirements.
* Demonstrated commitment to customer service and quality improvement.
* Effective communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.
Tasks & responsibilities
* Prepare and present quality meals in accordance with standard recipes and workflows. Provide, under the instruction of the Head Chef/Senior Chefs/Dietician, any therapeutic diets and supplements as required.
* Maintain a high degree of hygiene and cleanliness in all aspects of food distribution in accordance with the hospitals Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
* Maintain and document food safety plans.
* Direct and supervise the planning, preparation and serving of food to patients, staff member and visitors.
* Ability to lead a team in the absence of the Head Chef.
* Supervision of stock rotation and cleaning of kitchen areas.
* Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
* Adhere to Work Health and Safety principles.
