Demonstrating Rockets core values of Empathy, Humanity, Trust and Love in every interaction, the Assistant Project Manager builds trust with customers and internal teams while learning to navigate the complexities of software delivery, especially for Rockets Enterprise Foundation and COBOL projects. This role is ideal for individuals eager to grow into full project ownership while contributing meaningfully to Rockets mission of delivering exceptional customer experiences. The Assistant Project Manager must be able to effectively interact with a wide variety of people from consultants, software engineers, application end users, sales and senior leadership across Rocket partner and customer teams.
Successful applicants will join our NextGen Academy for a six-month training program. This is an extraordinary opportunity to obtain project management training while you get paid
Throughout the six-month program you'll receive structured technical training and work on real-world projects and be mentored by expert-level Project Managers. Upon successful completion of the program you may be offered a full-time role in our Project Management Organization.
Our Perth NextGen Academy kicks off in February ****. This is a full-time in-office opportunity at our new software development lab on the Swan River in Elizabeth Quay Perth.
What Youll Do
Support project coordination by helping track tasks, timelines and milestones
Assist with planning by contributing to schedules and documentation under guidance
Join customer meetings to observe and learn how to manage delivery and communication
Collaborate with teams across engineering, consulting and sales to keep projects moving
Help monitor risks and raise concerns when things go off track
Learn about Rockets delivery approach and build your understanding of our products and customers
Contribute to reporting and help maintain visibility to project progress
Use project management tools to track tasks, milestones and risks
Support small projects like upgrades or migrations as you grow in confidence.
Participate in continuous improvement by sharing ideas and feedback
Who You Are
Permanent resident or citizen of Australia
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or other related fields
Recent graduate or writing your final exams at the end of ****
Curious, self-motivated with a keen interest in Project Management
A collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and project planning software packages
Excellent communication skills and strong organizational abilities
Ability to manage timelines and multi-task effectively
Nice to Have (but not required)
Demonstrated knowledge through university projects, internships or volunteer experiences
Genuine curiosity about technology and how things work
