Principal Property Officer (Commercial)

About the Role
As Principal Property Officer (Commercial), you'll be responsible for leading complex and high-value property initiatives that optimise Council's land portfolio. Your work will directly support the delivery of community services, economic resilience, and long-term sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing leasing strategies for commercial properties, including high-value agreements and tenant mix optimisation.
* Leading feasibility analysis, development of business cases, and financial modelling for property development and investment opportunities.
* Reviewing Council's land portfolio to identify underutilised assets and unlock value.
* Providing high-level advice on legislative, planning and land use matters to Council, executives, and stakeholders.
* Coordinating property projects to ensure time, cost, and quality standards are met.
* Engaging effectively with government agencies, industry, tenants, and community stakeholders.
About You
You are an experienced property professional with strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance complex stakeholder interests in a political environment. You have a demonstrated understanding of commercial leasing markets, valuation methodologies, and investment fundamentals. You thrive on seeing projects through from feasibility to delivery and have a track record of unlocking value from property portfolios.
To succeed, you'll bring:
* Degree qualifications in property, land economics, development, valuation, town planning, or related fields.
* Extensive experience in managing leasing, property portfolios, transactions, and development within large or complex organisations.
* Strong financial, analytical, and project management skills.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capability.
* Proven ability to deliver outcomes in line with governance, compliance, and community expectations.
* A current driver's licence and flexibility to travel across Council locations as required.
