Clinical Nurse Educator Role Overview
As a clinical nurse educator in oncology at a hospital, you will provide clinical training and education to nurses on a permanent part-time basis with 16 hours per week.
The role involves developing and delivering educational programs, assessing clinical procedures, and fostering a preceptor/mentor role to support less experienced staff in their clinical skills development.
Main Responsibilities:
* Clinical Training Delivery: Provide in-service educational programs to nurses to enhance their knowledge and skills.
* Clinical Procedure Assessment: Demonstrate and assess clinical procedures to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
* Preceptor/Mentorship: Foster a supportive environment for less experienced staff to develop their clinical skills under your guidance.
Key Selection Criteria:
* Registration and Qualifications: Current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse, relevant post-registration qualifications or current certificate as a workplace trainer and assessor.
* Experience and Knowledge: Minimum of 3 years' experience in the relevant clinical field with demonstrated knowledge of competency requirements.
* Education and Coaching Skills: Experience as a preceptor/mentor/coacher with ability to use contemporary education methods, ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate education activities using adult learning principles.
* Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills, computer skills, and commitment to professional development.
