Job Opportunity: Business Development Manager
Job Description
The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving growth through partnerships with major retailers. This involves joint business planning, innovation, and execution to deliver concept-to-shelf launches on time, in full, on margin.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute growth plans with major retailers to ensure timely and profitable product launches.
* Foster strong relationships with buyers, category managers, supply chain teams, finance, and executive levels within retailers.
* Streamline collaboration and accelerate time-to-market by leveraging retailer systems and portals.
* Negotiate trade terms, pricing, and promotional programs to enhance revenue and margin.
* Partner with cross-functional teams on pack/claims, SRP, forecasts, and readiness.
* Utilize data analytics, including AI-enabled tools, to improve demand planning, promo ROI, assortment, and customer insights.
* Champion sustainability initiatives aligned with retailer ESG priorities.
* Monitor performance, identify risks/opportunities, and report portfolio results.
Requirements:
* Proven track record of managing major retail accounts (e.g., Coles, Woolworths, Metcash).
* Strong working knowledge of retailer commercial and supply chain processes and portals.
* Successful experience with product lifecycle delivery in FMCG (concept to launch to in-life).
* Commercial acumen across pricing, margin, promotions, contracts.
* Excellent stakeholder influence and relationship management skills.
* Nice to have: experience with retail analytics/BI, exposure to AI-enabled tools for sales, forecasting or insights, background or strong interest in sustainability/ESG within FMCG, category experience in home or personal care.
