The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Hospital Liaison Coordinator (Male Health) to join their team on a temporary basis.
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act **** (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be male and Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Your opportunity
Provide support, advocacy and practical assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male inpatients, their families/carers and the community throughout their patient journey to receive coordinated care across the health continuum of care, during their stay at Mackay Base Hospital.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Hospital Liaison Officer (Male) will collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of appropriate and culturally sensitive services to contribute to improved health outcomes and the reduction of health inequalities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This role is classified in accordance with the Phase 2 outcome provided under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. *******. A Phase 3 process will occur to confirm the classification of the role. This process may result in changes to the role description, position title and classification and remuneration levels, however there will be no loss of employment conditions or remuneration for employees.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit is an essential element of the MHHS support services and ensures the development and delivery of culturally appropriate services and models of health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families.
