Drive the conversation for Australia's leading news brand as our Social Media Editor, where you will own the voice of nine.com.au across all major platforms. You will combine high-speed editorial instinct with data-backed strategy to expand our digital reach and capture the attention of millions. This is a high-impact role for a creative storyteller who thrives on the pulse of breaking news and the evolution of social trends.
Day to day you will:
* Manage the publishing schedule across Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok to ensure a consistent, premium presence.
* Partner with the news desk to deliver rapid, accurate social coverage during major breaking news events.
* Execute growth strategies designed to boost audience engagement, followers, and ecosystem click-throughs.
* Produce and edit "social-first" content, including short‐form video (Reels/TikToks), and bespoke infographics.
* Oversee community moderation to foster healthy discussion while maintaining legal and brand safety.
* Analyse real-time data to pivot strategies and capitalise on emerging viral trends.
What you'll bring
* Experience within a fast‐paced digital newsroom or a high‐volume social agency.
* Expert knowledge of Meta and TikTok algorithms and an appetite for emerging platform trends.
* The ability to craft punchy, accurate copy under tight deadlines.
* Proficiency with CMS platforms, social scheduling tools, and mobile video editing suites.
* Strong editorial judgement and a sharp eye for detail regarding accuracy and Australian media law.
