About the Role
Tyrrells Building Advisory is currently looking for experienced, well rounded Building Consultants to join our growing Newcastle/Central Coast team. We are currently seeking a Newcastle/Central Coast based Building Consultant to provide advice on all things building related predominately within the Newcastle/Central Coast region. The job will also involve travel to Sydney to service the workload as required. As a Building Consultant, you will be the first point of reference to provide advice and guidance to our clients, through thorough building inspections and translating these findings into detailed building reports.
Responsibilities
* Conduct independent and unbiased investigations for various types of clients
* Prepare detailed building reports
* Use of inhouse App based reporting software
* Maintain and champion a professional service mindset through organisational learning, continuous improvement, and professional development
* Attend company meetings and contribute to the overall development of the group
* Develop and maintain a good knowledge of appropriate Government legislation, standards, and codes relating to building, construction processes, technologies, and associated building materials.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications
* Sound technical experience in building consultancy work (min 3+ years) OR Extensive, hands-on construction experience ideally building under your own Builders licence (min 5+ years)
* Hold other relevant qualifications such as white card, timber pest, trade certificate, rail industry worker, asbestos identification, working at heights, confined space
* Understanding of the NCC, BCA and applicable Australian Standards
* Member of relevant building association or body
* Ability to interpret construction plans and build contracts
* Excellent communication and personal presentation
* Solution focused with great onsite problem solving skills
* Excellent technical report writing skills
* Well versed in general computer operations and familiar with various Office packages (Apple MacBook preferred)
* Willingness to learn and take on a challenge
* A methodical and efficient approach to managing your time and meeting client deadlines
* A valid and current drivers licence and suitable work vehicle to carry tools of the trade
