Role Summary
Due to continued growth, CRS is seeking an experienced CAD Designer to join our team and play an integral role in taking the business to the next level. This is a permanent opportunity offering long‑term career development with one of the best in the industry.
This role will suit a versatile and creative designer with a background in structural, mechanical, or product design, and strong SolidWorks expertise. You will report directly to the Head of Design and be involved across the full design lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Document CRS designs in accordance with client specifications and statutory requirements
* Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and documentation
* Consult with internal and external stakeholders
* Create and deliver custom‑designed solutions
* Conduct design studies and manage client expectations and delivery timelines
* Mechanical, structural, and sheet metal design
* Design from initial concept through to completion
* Prepare design documentation for manufacture and production
* Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards
* Manage BOMs and oversee quality control aspects of assigned projects
* Implement process improvements and continuous design enhancements
Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum 4–5 years' experience (datacentre industry experience highly regarded)
* Proven experience liaising with clients and managing design projects
* Strong knowledge of construction and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal and laser cutting
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
* Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently under pressure
* Advanced SolidWorks proficiency (essential)
* Sound understanding of design for manufacture, particularly sheet metal and metal fabrication processes
* Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to work autonomously
