About the role:
The Principal Functional Analyst supports the Communities and Families Portfolio, which is responsible for leading the development and implementation of various solutions and initiatives within the program. The role also involves gathering and analysing business requirements, assessing their alignment with existing products and providing expertise on functional requirements.
It is central to planning program releases, ensuring best practices are followed, and translating business needs into effective system solutions. The Principal Functional Analyst documents user stories and requirements, designs technology-enabled outcomes, and oversees stakeholder engagement, budget and cash flow, reporting, quality assurance, and risk management.
Working closely with business sponsors and steering committees, the analyst ensures solutions align with strategic objectives and deliver measurable value, while also providing leadership and mentorship across the application analysis landscape.

About you:
Can you demonstrate the following?
* Build domain expertise in business applications and processes to enhance stakeholder engagement and optimize solution design.
* Acquire and apply system configuration skills for department approved SaaS platforms.
* Lead the elicitation and analysis of business requirements, ensuring alignment with product capabilities and program goals.
* Support system and user acceptance testing to ensure solution integrity and user satisfaction.
* Facilitate and lead stakeholder workshops to define business challenges, identify efficiency opportunities, and enhance customer service.
* Ensure compliance with government, eHealth, and ETB strategies and policies, including adherence to the PDM and other endorsed methodologies.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise
Qualifications
* A relevant IT related degree or qualification will be highly advantageous to this role.
* Certification in PRINCE 2 or other project management methodology is highly desirable.
* Agile project experience will be advantageous.
Specialist Expertise
* Previous experience as a Senior Functional Analyst working on successful ICT projects including large software application development implementations.
* Previous experience in a wide range of project delivery methodologies including Agile and SDLC.
* Previous experienced in delivering agile projects and ability to mentor and coach functional analysts.
* Previous experience in a wide range of technologies in custom development and package implementations.
* Desirable experience working in Government sector and / or client / case management systems.
