Payroll Specialist
We are seeking an experienced payroll specialist to join our finance team.
This role is critical in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll services to a diverse workforce.
As a payroll specialist, you will provide expert guidance on payroll matters, support system optimisation, and act as a trusted partner across the organisation.
The Role
* End-to-end payroll processing, reconciliations, and reporting for 400+ employees.
* Applying awards and agreements including SCHADS, Nurses, and Modern Aged Care Awards.
* Ensuring compliance with Fair Work legislation, ATO guidelines, and superannuation obligations.
* Managing complex payments including terminations, redundancies, and manual calculations.
* Partnering with leaders and staff to provide clear payroll advice and support.
* Driving process improvements and embracing upcoming changes in aged care standards.
* Supporting rostering and training initiatives to improve efficiency and compliance.

Key Qualifications and Skills
* 5+ years' experience in payroll (ideally with 400+ staff).
* Strong knowledge of ELMO Payroll & Rostering (also known as Employment Hero Payroll or KeyPay) and ELMO HR Core.
* Familiarity with Health Cloud and aged care/healthcare sector systems highly regarded.
* In-depth understanding of SCHADS, Nurses, and Modern Aged Care Awards.
* Up-to-date knowledge of Fair Work legislation and ATO guidelines.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve payroll issues promptly.
* Excellent communication skills - able to explain complex matters simply and supportively.
* A collaborative mindset and a commitment to advocating for staff.
* Compassion, empathy, and a willingness to support colleagues through change.
* Experience in Aged Care highly desirable
