This Senior Legal Counsel will provide effective, efficient, proactive, timely and cost‐effective legal advice and guidance to enable business operations within the defence industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Working with and supporting internal clients by providing practical, effective, efficient, timely and cost‐effective legal advice on a range of legal topics.
* Lead and manage complex legal matters, ensuring the company's interests are protected.
* Teaming with internal clients to support business objectives by providing legal training, improving processes, sharing knowledge, and ensuring legal compliance.
* Working collaboratively with Raytheon Australia and wider Raytheon and RTX Legal, Contracts, and Compliance teams.
* Managing legal compliance and effectively implementing legal compliance programs and frameworks.
* In close collaboration with specialist colleagues at Raytheon and RTX:
o Providing legal advice on employment law matters.
o Providing legal advice on, and managing the review, negotiation, and drafting of, commercial real‐estate leases.
o Providing legal and compliance advice on environment, health, and safety matters.
o Maintaining corporate records and assisting the Company Secretary with the preparation, maintenance, and filing of corporate documents in accordance with applicable laws and the company's constitution.
o Providing legal advice on intellectual property matters.
o Providing legal advice on, and managing, disputes and litigation involving Raytheon Australia.
o Providing legal and compliance advice on contract and supply chain matters.
o Drafting and maintaining legal policies.
* Working with leaders across the business to ensure operations are in line with Raytheon Australia, Raytheon, and RTX policies and procedures.
* Engaging outside legal counsel where required and effectively managing costs to achieve value for money.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* A Degree in Law and a current Practising Certificate in an Australian State or Territory.
* Admission as a lawyer in an Australian State or Territory.
* Minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience (when a University Degree is held).
* Expert or mastery level knowledge of legal areas generally needed to support large commercial entities.
* Advanced knowledge of privacy, commercial real‐estate, labour, and employment disciplines.
* Post‐admission experience as a lawyer in private practice and/or an in‐house legal role.
* Experience in a commercial environment in a law firm and/or in‐house.
Applicants must be an Australian citizen and/or eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance up to NV1.
