About the role As the Parks Program Officer, you'll play a key role in enhancing Hobart's parks and open spaces through strategic planning, contractor coordination, and community engagement. Your responsibilities will include: Manage External contractors to ensure compliance with City of Hobart standards and specifications Create the Park Care program, liaising with community groups and organising weekend activities and rosters Maintain inspection programs for green assets and contribute to long-term park improvement and planting plans. Respond professionally to public and elected member enquiries, ensuring all communications are documented appropriately. Assist with budgeting, policy reviews, and service level documentation to support high-quality park management. To succeed in this role you will bring: A certificate IV in Horticulture (or similar), a current Drivers Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Demonstrated experience in managing parks operations, including contractor oversight and project delivery Strong horticultural knowledge with the ability to prepare technical specifications and manage procurement processes Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, resolve issues, and communicate effectively. Proficiency in maintaining asset databases and planning for both short and long-term park improvements.
