Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Administrator in Canberra to work on COSPO projects.
What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
* Foster strong collaboration and communication, modelling COSPO’s One Team behaviours and supporting effective engagement across the broader DCO community
* Plan, manage and support development of documentation and artefacts, building productive relationships with stakeholders and ensuring high‑quality outputs.
* Maintain accurate reporting and records, monitoring COSPO maintenance delivery, providing timely updates, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
* Promote professional growth and continuous improvement, offering coaching, sharing knowledge and contributing to uplift across the Branch, Division and Group.
* Uphold COSPO vision, mission and probity, ensuring compliance with security, governance and maintenance frameworks while maintaining eligibility for PV clearance.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong IT administration capability, including experience with physical and virtual networks, cross‑functional IT teams, and Defence systems, supported by essential certifications (SAFe® Practitioner, PV clearance).
* Desirable cyber security and technical qualifications, such as Cyber Security certs, VMware vSphere pathway progress, CompTIA Sec+, and experience with large‑scale networks or Cyber Ranges.
* Hands‑on support responsibilities, delivering Level 1 and 2 support, maintaining DCR/SDTE infrastructure, managing assets, coordinating upgrades, and participating in testing and triage.
* Effective communication and collaboration, fostering a cooperative COSPO/DCO environment, resolving issues, engaging stakeholders and supporting documentation development.
* Commitment to reporting, professional development and One Team culture, maintaining accurate records, sharing knowledge, coaching others and modelling COSPO behaviours.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Positive Vetting or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
