**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Plan, control and supervise building maintenance and refurbishment programs to ensure completed work conforms to necessary standards and codes.
- Coordinate, plan and implement maintenance projects/jobs so maintenance funds relating to buildings are used efficiently and effectively.
- Manage various whole of government and other contracts relating to maintenance issues and facility management.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance to buildings and property as determined by the program and circumstances. Carry out work scheduling and supervision of building maintenance staff and prepare related documentation.
- Prepare specifications for minor building maintenance works and prepare orders and authority to incur expenditure and certify subsequent related accounts.
- Establish and maintain effective liaison and communication between maintenance contractors and managers.
- Perform quality checks on contractors and services.
- Provide comprehensive monthly reports of building maintenance works.
- Assist the Manager Assets and Infrastructure and the Manager Property Services in relation to: Investigation and evaluation of new processes, techniques and products, the definition and justification of annual works programs; research and formulation of state-wide preventative maintenance and remedial programs; the preparation of building maintenance budgetary estimates.
- Provide direction, expertise, and advice on high volume maintenance projects.
- Manage Whole of Government facility contract for statutory, preventative, and reactive maintenance including breakdown and urgent call outs. Processing claims and validating asset reports.
**Requirements and Qualifications**:
- Proficient computer and administration skills
- Qualifications and/or relevant experience in a building or other trades related environment.
- Technical competency in building maintenance skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise/interact with manager and employees.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated skills in managing several projects concurrently, with varying timeframes and workloads, in a high-volume work environment.
- Good knowledge of relevant acts, codes, policies, and procedures relating to the building industry.
- Extensive experience in the management of building maintenance programs.
- Demonstrated experience in Government purchasing procedure and knowledge of human resources and finance policy and process.
- Current valid driver's licence
