The project involves:
- Extensive non-process infrastructure (NPI) including port facilities, tanks, pumps, and pipelines
- A remote location requiring robust design solutions for storage, handling, and utilities
- Study-level outcomes that will set a defensible baseline for execution readiness
- Multiple engineering offices working in parallel, requiring solid integration and coordination
About the Role
The Lead SMP Engineer will take ownership of the mechanical, structural, and piping scope, with a particular focus on port and NPI facilities.
- Lead design and engineering for tanks, pumps, pipelines, fuel storage, and supporting NPI infrastructure
- Develop study-level layouts for port facilities, workshops, maintenance buildings, and logistics hubs
- Oversee SMP integration across conveyors, materials handling, water and dewatering networks, and site services
- Provide preliminary equipment lists, datasheets, and specifications to support cost estimation and long-lead procurement planning
- Coordinate structural requirements for foundations, supports, and port-related structures such as wharves or load-out facilities
- Work closely with civil, electrical, and process teams to ensure alignment of SMP deliverables with the broader project scope
- Ensure study outputs are robust, constructible, and positioned to feed into Class 3 estimating and execution
About You
We are seeking an experienced SMP Engineer with:
- Proven leadership experience across large-scale mining or resources projects
- Strong background in mechanical, structural, and piping design, with emphasis on port and NPI infrastructure
- Experience with tanks, pumps, pipelines, conveyors, and associated utilities
- Prior study-phase experience and understanding of the transition into execution deliverables
- Familiarity with constructability reviews and integration into Class 3 cost estimates
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver consistent, defensible outputs
Roster & Conditions
Monday to Friday, based in Perth or Brisbane
Hybrid work options – up to 1 day WFH per week for lead roles
Hours: 40 per week plus approved overtime
Initial 12-month contract, aligned with DFS delivery
