Elevate-X is leading an executive search for a prominent company in the renewable energy sector, with a particular focus on Biogas. Originally founded as an EPC, this client now operates under a \"Build, Own, Operate\" model, spanning Engineering, construction and operations.

Position Overview:
The General Manager will lead the launch and full-cycle operations of a newly commissioned biogas facility, transforming organic waste into renewable energy. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for building the team, embedding operational excellence, and driving commercial performance from day one.
Responsibilities
Commercial & Strategic Leadership
- Own the plant's P&L;, budget forecasting, and capital expenditure planning.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Develop business cases for expansion, technology upgrades, or new revenue streams
- Contribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives as part of the founding leadership team.
Waste Management & Feedstock Strategy
- Source, assess, and manage organic waste streams—food, agricultural, industrial, and municipal.
- Ensure feedstock quality and contamination control to protect digestor health and output.
- Navigate waste classification, transport documentation, and environmental licensing.
- Build relationships with councils, contractors, and suppliers to secure consistent waste flow.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Recruit, lead, and develop a multidisciplinary team across operations, maintenance, and compliance.
- Foster a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to HSE protocols.
- Engage with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders to maintain trust and transparency.
Plant Operations & Technical Oversight
- Lead daily operations across feedstock intake, digestion, gas capture, and energy conversion.
- Monitor and optimize process parameters to maximize biogas yield and plant uptime.
- Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance of critical infrastructure (digesters, CHP units, pumps, flare systems).
- Implement and track KPIs across production, downtime, and efficiency metrics.
Key Requirements
- Proven leadership in biogas or industrial process environments.
- Strong background in waste management—MRFs, composting, landfill gas, or organic recycling.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, circular economy principles, and carbon reporting.
- Commercial mindset with experience managing budgets, contracts, and operational KPIs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
