About the role
The Crew Leader Horticulturist is vital in overseeing the maintenance, improvement, and construction of Central Coast Council's parks, reserves, and roadside landscapes. This role combines expert horticultural knowledge with strong leadership skills to deliver high-quality services to the Central Coast community.
As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for effective resource allocation, adherence to safety practices, and fostering a culture of teamwork while enhancing the aesthetic and functional value of our open spaces.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
Key activities
* Lead and manage the maintenance and improvement of parks and roadside landscapes.
* Ensure adherence to quality standards and budget constraints in horticultural practices.
* Supervise staff and contractors while promoting a culture of safety and teamwork.
Qualifications and experience
* Certificate III qualification in Horticulture/ Parks and Gardens or related field.
* Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
* Current Class C Driver's Licence.
* Experience in the Horticulture/ Parks and Gardens Maintenance industry in a supervisory role.
* Demonstrated experience with horticulture/ parks maintenance equipment.
* Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence.
* Traffic Controller (TRC).
* Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP).
* Prepare a Work Zone Traffic Management Plan (PWZ).
* Chemical application qualifications to AQF 111 level.
Successful candidates may/will be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
Salary and benefits
* Commencing salary up to $70.7K, with progression opportunities up to $81.9K upon assessment of skills and performance, plus a $19.49 weekly working allowance and 12% superannuation.
* Two permanent full‐time roles available.
* Access to a 9‐day fortnight.
* Roles located at Council's Woy Woy Depot and Erina Depot.
