We have an exciting temporary opportunity for a Collection Services Supervisor to join our team at Mackay Base Hospital, leading a team of phlebotomy staff to achieve both organisational goals and individual development objectives.
What You'll Do
* Manage staff and coordinate collection activities within Mackay Base Hospital wards and the collection centre.
* Supervise, guide and assist in all activities of the Central Specimen Reception service.
* Manage the recruitment, performance, rostering and payroll for the Clinical Assistant staff within the Central Specimen Reception service in conjunction with the laboratory Supervising Scientist.
* Maintain a documented training, competency and continuing education program for the Central Specimen Reception staff.
* Actively support staff to achieve their professional and organisational goals.
About You
We are searching for someone with:
* Advanced level of technical skills in Phlebotomy
* Demonstrated understanding of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and clinical specimens.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the procedures and processes of Specimen Collection or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and skills in this area.
* Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerised systems.
* Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively to meet the clinical need of patients and to ensure an efficient client-focused service.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical professionals and other pathology staff
