About the Role
Absolute Enterprises is seeking a hands-on Estimator to support our Engineering Division. This is not just an office-based role — it is a critical position responsible for setting jobs up for success from the very beginning.
We are looking for someone who understands how work is actually done in a heavy engineering workshop and can accurately scope, price, and prepare jobs across machining, fitting, and fabrication. You will play a key role in ensuring new work is quoted correctly, job packs are built properly, and the workshop has clear direction before work begins.
Key Responsibilities
· Quote incoming jobs across machining, fitting and fabrication
· Complete strip & assess reports on heavy components (including track frames and similar assemblies)
· Build accurate and detailed job packs for workshop execution
· Review scope, labour hours, materials, and subcontract requirements
· Assist with lineboring quoting and support onsite works pricing
· Liaise with supervisors and trades to confirm scope and execution approach
· Ensure jobs are set up correctly to drive efficiency, quality, and profitability
· Identify gaps in scope and improve estimating processes over time
About You
· Strong experience in an engineering or heavy workshop environment
· Background in machining, fitting, fabrication and/or lineboring
· Ability to interpret measurements, wear patterns, and component condition
· Experience with strip & assess processes or similar inspection-based work
· Strong understanding of labour build-ups and job costing
· High attention to detail and accountability for your numbers
· A practical, hands-on mindset with the ability to work closely with the workshop team
· Estimating experience highly regarded but not essential for the right person
