Primary Purpose of Position

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of capital infrastructure projects at the Port of Townsville. Working closely with various stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and government bodies, the Project Manager will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the highest safety and quality standards. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires exceptional project management skills, strong leadership abilities, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

* Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
* Coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to established plans and objectives.
* Conduct regular project meetings to communicate project status, identify risks, and make necessary adjustments.
* Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure effective project implementation.
* Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal departments, external contractors, government agencies, and regulatory bodies.
* Manage stakeholder expectations by providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and resolving conflicts.
* Foster a collaborative environment to encourage teamwork and cooperation among project participants.
* Develop project budgets and monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Implement cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets.
* Conduct regular cost reviews, identify cost‐saving opportunities, and propose necessary adjustments.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
* Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to deliver projects to the highest standards.
* Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards and quality issues.
* Identify project risks and develop comprehensive risk management plans.
* Proactively monitor and mitigate risks to minimize potential disruptions to project timelines and budgets.
* Implement effective change management procedures to address unforeseen circumstances or scope changes.
* Contribute to the Port's strategic plans including the Statement of Corporate Intent, Corporate Plan and Port Vision 2050.
* Comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and standards and ensure your team do the same.
* Promote a Zero Harm culture and continual improvement in our Health and Safety management and performance.
* Contribute towards effectively developing and managing departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets and work to continually identify cost saving initiatives.
* Any other duties commensurate with level and accountabilities, or as directed by leadership.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction/project management, or a related field.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
* Current Queensland C class drivers' licence.
* Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).

Skills and Experience

* Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Project Manager, preferably in delivering capital infrastructure projects in a marine environment.
* Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
* Experience in stakeholder management and the ability to build effective relationships.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate project teams to achieve project objectives.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

Software/Systems Skills

* Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word and Excel).
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Project or other project management software.
