Position Profile: We are seeking suitably experienced applicants to fill an SRN Level 2, Clinical Nurse Specialist - Oncology role. We also encourage Clinical Nurses and experienced Registered Nurses to apply as there is the possibility of a supported development pathway to SRN2, and additional nursing positions available.
The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist - Oncology is to work in partnership across all health areas to improve the quality and continuity of care and support provided to Aboriginal clients diagnosed with cancer during their journey.
Job Requirements: The key responsibilities of this position include:
* Acts as a cancer resource person for staff and Aboriginal patients and their significant others throughout the region
* Undertakes extensive community engagement, consultation and cultural maintenance
* Supports Aboriginal people to access cancer care and complete treatment
* Provides clinical cancer nursing knowledge and case management across the region
* Increase capability of Aboriginal Health Workers and Liaison Officers to provide cancer care on country.
* Demonstrates leadership and role modelling
* Promotes best practice and maintenance of clinical standards through setting and monitoring policy, from development through implementation and evaluation and facilitates change management as required to improve Aboriginal cancer patient’s outcomes.
