Manage contractors and oversee geotextile installation, civil construction, bulk excavation and fill, and related activities within Pit 3 and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership for workplace safety, including orientation, procedure development, and leading meetings with Bechtel and subcontractor teams.
* Inspect the site to identify unsafe conditions and practices, taking corrective action as needed.
* Implement a Zero Accident Philosophy approach.
Evaluate and approve current design documents provided to subcontractors. Monitor their activities to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
Responsible for cost management, schedule optimization of labor, and maintaining a three-week lookahead schedule for labor and equipment. Implement project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
Coordinate established area operational plans. Provide input to the preparation of the lookahead schedule and budget control, collaborating with Project Controls. Contribute to quantity tracking applications and report weekly installed quantities to Project Controls.
Prepare reports and forecasts, including summaries of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditure forecasts.
Requirements
Recognized technical degree or certification in a relevant field, combined with extensive demonstrated experience in the construction industry.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
* Demonstrated expertise in civil/earthworks is essential; experience in cross-supervision is highly beneficial.
* Extensive experience in constructing large projects and ability to undertake and administer small to medium-sized capital projects.
* Deep knowledge of Bulk Earthworks and associated earthmoving equipment management systems.
Strong commitment to Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) principles and a Zero Accident safety program. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and database software.
