Our Hospital:
The Mersey Community Hospital, Latrobe has 95 beds and offers general and specialist health services including 24 hour emergency department, general medicine, day surgery and endoscopy, rehabilitation, palliative care and day oncology services along with a variety of specialist clinics. Mersey Community Hospital is a dedicated elective surgery centre and provides a mixture of general hospital services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs.
The Nuts and Bolts
Multiple permanent full time and part positions available working up to 76 hours per fortnight.
We have the flexibility to match our applicants to our vacancies where you may work either full time or part time, and day work or shift work depending on your skills and experience.
The position is based in the Operating Theatre at Mersey Community Hospital.
Operating Theatre
The Mersey Community Hospital is about to commence an extensive capital works program that will see the existing theatres and endoscopy suites replaced with state-of-the-art day surgery and endoscopy centre. The theatres and endoscopy suite provides Day Surgery procedures for mainly the North West but attracts clients state-wide. Specialties provided include Dental Surgery, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Endoscopy, and ENT. The Operating Theatre staff consists of a Nurse Unit Manager, Associate Nurse Unit Managers, Registered Nurses (G3-7), Enrolled Nurses, Theatre Attendants, CSSD staff, Hospital Aide and Ward Clerk. An excellent programme of on-the-job training as Scrub nurse, Circulating Nurse, Anaesthetic nurse and PACU nurse is offered and many of our staff obtain post graduate qualifications through the University of Tasmania programs offered in partnership with the THS. Several staff hold post graduate qualifications in Perioperative Services and post-grad studies is encouraged. Experience is not mandatory but highly desirable.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
5. Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
6. Professional Development Allowance of up to $750 per annum
Base Salary: $69,835 - $96, 428 pro rata per annum + employer contributions to superannuation
7. Access to the Grade 4 salary range $90, 293 - $96, 428 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
8. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
9. Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
10. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
