About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker working in Supported Independent Living (SIL), you will be supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance.
You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster.
Experience supporting participants with Behaviours of concern is required.
Availability to work Night Shifts/ Sleep over shifts is essential.
Rosters will be sent to shortlisted applicants so you can review and decide if you can commit to them.
Key Responsibilities
Support a tech-loving client by integrating iPads and other digital tools into daily routines, using technology to creatively enhance communication, recreation, and client-led supports
Availability for sleepover shifts is required
Confidently support clients with complex needs, including physical and verbal behaviours of concern, using proactive, evidence-based strategies and clear communication
Implement person-centred active support and behavioural support plans, showing initiative, flexibility, and a strong understanding of complex behaviour support
Assist clients in daily personal care routines, including bathing, shaving, and toileting
Encourage community participation which may include 1 on 1 support within the community
Skills & Experience
Hold an unrestricted New South Wales driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Willingness to drive a company van where required for transportation
Committed to work flexibly throughout the week, including public holidays
Demonstrated competency in basic technology usage on mobile and desktop platforms
A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 or willingness to obtain
Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
