Position Overview:
Reporting to the Superintendent and site manager based at Karara Mine, this role is responsible for providing technical support to all maintenance and project works focusing on standardisation and optimisation of safe work instructions/procedures (SWI/SWP). The Maintenance Engineer will work on root cause analysis and provide effective solutions for frequent breakdowns while focusing on reliability and condition monitoring for critical plant and equipment. A key focus of this role will be improvement and optimisation project works.
Roster: 8/6, based on site
Travel: FIFO and DIDO opportunities
Contract: Full time permanent role
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed Safe Work Instructions/Procedures (SWI/SWP) for maintenance and project tasks and regularly review and update existing SWI/SWP to reflect the best practices for carrying out the works safely and efficiently.
Collect and analyse breakdown data and conduct investigations into root causes for frequently occurring breakdowns with an aim to devise practical and effective solutions to reduce breakdown frequency.
Manage improvement and optimisation project works through life cycle from confirmation to completion to track work progress and performance with respect to budget, quality, efficiency and compliance to applicable codes/standards and approved work procedures.
Prepare, review, and negotiate improvement and optimisation project work quotations based on the scope of work and technical information from the client, supplier information on materials, parts and services, schedule of rates and past experiences.
Assist with the preparation of plans, drawings, work schedules and permits as well as materials and parts for improvement and optimisation project works.
Liaise with vendors and contractors to achieve the best outcome in terms of procurement of materials, parts and services for maintenance and optimization project works.
Other works as directed by Superintendent and Site Manager.
About you:
Good technical understanding of fixed plant maintenance.
Excellent collaboration, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational, decision making, and time management skills including ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
Strong ability to manage and resolve conflicts.
Strong ability to interact with and influence employees at various levels.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and experience using engineering design and drafting software packages including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Australian Drivers Licence
Significant experience in manufacturing, heavy industry or mining environment
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in manufacturing, heavy industry or mining industry.
