About the Program
The Women in Defence Industry Scholarship is a six-month training program designed to support women to enter the Defence industry through nationally recognized qualifications and industry experience.
As a student of South Metropolitan Rockingham TAFE, you will complete two nationally recognized qualifications in an accelerated learning delivery, combined with the opportunity to complete work experience with an industry employer.
Whether you are finishing school, returning to work, or considering a career change, this scholarship provides a structured pathway intro a growing and secure industry.
Successful applicants will:
* Complete two nationally recognised qualifications
* Specialise in Electronics and Technical Engineering
* Undertake structured classroom-based training delivered by TAFE
* Participate in a supervised industry work placement to apply skills learnt
* Build exposure to Defence industry employers
* Develop pathways into further study, higher education traineeships or entry-level employment roles
This program is designed to provide foundational technical capability and industry insight in a supportive cohort environment.
Important Information:
* Participants are enrolled as TAFE students completing a Cert II & Cert III level combined course.
* The industry placement component forms part of the educational program and is for skills development purposes only.
* There are no course fees payable by successful scholarship recipients.
* Applicants must be able to commit to 30 hours per week participation, for the full six-month duration.
Who Should Apply?
We encourage applications from women who:
* Have an interest in electronics, engineering or a future employment opportunity within the Defence industry
* Are seeking entry into a technical career pathway
* Are returning to the workforce or considering a career change
* Can commit to 30 hours study, over 6 months
* No prior Defence experience is required.
Applications close March 29th & Scholarship Commences April 20th
