About the school
The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.
About the role
The School of Arts & Sciences plans to commence national delivery of Social Work through the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) (MSWQ) program in 2025. This program has been developed in alignment with AASW accreditation standards.
Social work is integral to the University's strategic goals and complements existing disciplines in wellbeing, mental health, and social sciences, including counselling, psychology, sociology, social justice, political science, law, ethics, health sciences, behavioural sciences, Aboriginal Studies, and allied health.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and deliver the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) program, ensuring excellence in teaching and research within the relevant area of specialisation.
* Ensure compliance with AASW standards and accreditation requirements.
* Collaborate with faculty, academic staff, and professional teams to provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
* Oversee student feedback and manage field-education placements to maintain program effectiveness.
* Contribute to accreditation processes, internal and external reporting, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Qualifications, skills & experience
* Doctorate in Social Work (PhD or professional doctorate) required for teaching at Master's level (AQF 9); exceptional professional experience may be considered for equivalence under AASW and TEQSA requirements.
* Completion of an AASW-accredited social work program or overseas qualifications recognised by AASW, with current AASW membership.
* Demonstrated ability to teach and coordinate the Master of Social Work Qualifying degree program and conduct research within the relevant area of specialisation.
* Strong understanding and compliance with AASW standards, modelling professional social work behaviour in teaching, research, scholarship and service.
* Evidence of industry, clinical, or fieldwork experience, and contributions to social work field education programs.
* Proven capacity to engage in scholarship, research, and professional activities, including supervision of HDR students (desirable).
