Vestas is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Sales Engineer to join our collaborative team in Melbourne. This role involves using strong relationship‐building skills and engineering expertise to provide clear and precise cost information and technical data to internal and external stakeholders across the APAC region.
Responsibilities
* Be a strong member of the sales team that builds Vestas' wind turbine order book and delivers sustainable growth across Asia Pacific.
* Prepare accurate wind farm configurations and WTG pricing sheets in our specialized IT systems based on input from technical and commercial stakeholders.
* Retrieve, review and challenge cost assumptions and drive optimisation of our offerings to improve our win rate.
* Develop a thorough understanding of each new project for which a proposal is to be developed, and the key buying criteria and financial metrics upon which the customers will make their purchase decision.
* Advise on deal positioning and evaluation of customer business cases and model analysis.
* Support Sales in interfaces with customers on the value proposition.
* Initiate and develop necessary supporting financial models and commercial analysis for current and future projects and product developments.
* Participate with Sales Leaders in pricing and bidding strategies.
* Interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders to perform value and competitor analysis.
* Perform advanced analytics (competitive benchmarking, cost benchmarking, commercial performance reporting and pre/post deal analysis) to develop pricing strategies.
* Secure the project's approval path through internal gate reviews by preparing and delivering compelling, high‐quality presentations.
* Secure the order intake by coordinating the actions of the cross‐functional team during proposal development, contract negotiations and financial close.
* Be responsible for Salesforce governance.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Finance or Financial Engineering.
* Prior experience with wind or large infrastructure projects (capital equipment) is preferred but not mandatory.
* Confidence and capability in working with analytical tools related to business intelligence and commercial project/customer business case analysis.
* Relevant experience and a proven track record in preparing financials and viability models, financial models, Excel‐based calculations and visual data representation (graphs, charts) delivering clarity and insight for executive audiences.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, out‐of‐the‐box thinking skills and solution‐oriented attitude.
