Director National Immigration Support Services
Life Without Barriers is seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to join our Child, Youth & Family executive team as Director – National Immigration Support Services (NISS).
This is a rare opportunity to lead nationally delivered programs and influence meaningful outcomes for refugees, people seeking asylum and individuals experiencing or at risk of forced marriage.
About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive of Child, Youth & Family Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a geographically dispersed national portfolio. You will lead senior managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure service integrity, program fidelity and strong contractual performance across both Status Resolution Support Services (SRSS) and the Forced Marriage Specialist Support Program (FMSSP).
Position can be based in VIC, NSW or QLD.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading and embedding a culture of service excellence, safety and continuous improvement
* Ensuring compliance with Departmental contracts, accreditation standards and governance requirements
* Driving nationally consistent service delivery aligned with Life Without Barriers' Purpose and Values
* Providing strategic oversight of all NISS programs
* Managing financial performance, growth strategy and operational sustainability
* Building strong relationships with government, NGOs and sector stakeholders
* Acting as a spokesperson on matters impacting refugees, people seeking asylum, and individuals affected by forced marriage
* Supporting innovation, reform initiatives and practice improvement nationally
This role requires both strategic vision and operational discipline, with the ability to lead complex, multi-jurisdictional services in a dynamic and sensitive policy environment.
Experience required:
We require an experienced executive leader within the community services sector, with demonstrated success managing large-scale, geographically dispersed programs in complex and high-accountability environments.
You will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or a related clinical or business discipline
* Senior leadership experience in immigration, refugee support, family violence, or related human services
* Demonstrated experience managing and influencing senior government relationships
* Strong knowledge of Australian community services policy and regulatory frameworks
* Demonstrated understanding of the complexities impacting refugees, people seeking asylum, and individuals experiencing forced marriage
* Proven success managing budgets, governance and risk in complex service environments
* Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders including government and accrediting bodies
* Exceptional communication skills, including media and sector representation
* A commitment to culturally responsive practice and child safety
