Primary objective
Provide professional front office services including financial and administrative support to the Senior Operations Manager,
Business Manager, Executive Team and teaching staff in a busy and demanding school environment.
Context statement
Darwin High School (DHS) is the largest senior secondary school (Years 10-12) in the Northern Territory, with a cohort of
approximately 1300 students. With a team of over 150 staff including NTG employees and School Board employed staff,
DHS has a strong reputation for academic excellence and operates as an Independent Public School.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Administrative Support – Assist the Principal, management team and teaching staff with word processing, data entry, and
general administrative and financial duties as directed by management.
2. Data Management – Ensure the integrity and accuracy of both manual and digital student records through efficient data
entry and retrieval.
3. Finance – Manage invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, receipting, banking, and payroll assistance while ensuring
compliance with financial policies.
4. Procurement and Inventory – Process purchase orders, obtain quotes, order stock, and manage opening and closing
procedures.
5. Customer Service – Provide front office support to students, parents, and visitors, handling inquiries, selling school
supplies, answering calls, and managing visitor sign-ins and deliveries.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse cultural
backgrounds and exercise tact and discretion.
2. Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to track deadlines and adjust priorities in a fast paced
environment.
3. Proven customer service experience, demonstrating the ability to assist and advise students, parents and visitors
professionally.
4. Experience in financial administration, including cash handling, invoicing, receipting, banking and payroll processing, with
a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Proficiency in office software applications, with the ability to effectively use systems such as SAMS, Compass,
Ci Anywhere, or the capacity to learn quickly.
6. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
Desirable
1. Previous experience in a school finance role using Ci Anywhere and Compass.
