The role

Position Overview

The Department of Education is looking for qualified psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, and behaviour analysts to join our Student Support Services (SSS) team in Hobsons Bay. The role supports schools in addressing barriers to learning and enabling students to achieve their educational and developmental potential.

Term: 0.6 FTE, Fixed Term until 16 October 2026

Location: Footscray

About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services, policy leadership, and plans for the future of education in Victoria. It oversees early childhood and school education systems and directly provides school education and early learning centres.

About the Division

Student Support Services aims to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through specialized support at individual, group, and school levels.

About the Role

As a member of the SSS team, you will utilise your disciplinary expertise within our multi‐tiered systems of support framework. You will work with schools, teachers, and other regional staff to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • Psychologist: Graduate or post‐graduate degree in Psychology and full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA).
  • Speech Pathologist: Graduate or post‐graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for SPA registration.
  • Social Worker: Graduate or post‐graduate qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Occupational Therapist: Relevant graduate or post‐graduate qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA.
