Role Overview: Prosecution Services provides legal advice and prosecutorial functions to members of the Service, handling matters before Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts. The Mt Isa Police Prosecution Corps is a medium-sized establishment.
Prosecutors are responsible for police-related matters in the Mt Isa Magistrates Court District and circuit courts across Birdsville, Boulia, Camooweal, Cloncurry, Dajarra, Julia Creek, and the Gulf Circuit. They also prosecute cases at Mornington Island, Normanton, Doomadgee, and Burketown.
Your Key Accountabilities:
* Provide prosecution services within your area of responsibility.
* Represent the Service and its members in court proceedings and applications before Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts.
* Offer legal advice related to court processes.
* Ensure high-quality briefs of evidence are prepared by police.
* Collaborate with police, legal professionals, government agencies, and the community to achieve policing outcomes.
* Identify environmental factors affecting work and contribute to legal research and advice.
* Maintain high standards of performance and conduct.
Role Requirements:
* Admission, eligibility for immediate admission, or entitlement to practice as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
Applications remain current for 12 months.
