Deputy Head of the Mayne Academy of Medicine
This is a part time (30%), fixed-term position for up to 5 years. The base salary will be in the range $168,593 - $185,573 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level D). Additional loading may apply.
Based at our Herston Campus, you will support the Head of the Mayne Academy in overseeing the coordination, development, and continuous improvement of the UQ MD Program curriculum.
As a senior clinician with a passion for teaching and/or research, you will champion excellence in clinical education, working closely with Specialty Leads and Supervisors across clinical units to ensure exceptional student learning experiences.
- Academic Leadership & Governance: Support the Head of the Mayne Academy in strategic and operational leadership, workforce planning, and representation in internal and external forums.
- Curriculum & Teaching Excellence: Lead and support curriculum development, assessment design, and teaching innovation across the MD Program.
- Collaboration & Educational Partnerships: Work closely with Specialty Leads, clinical supervisors, and academic staff to strengthen teaching quality, develop learning materials, and enhance the student experience.
- Research, Supervision & Scholarly Practice: Contribute to educational research, supervise emerging academics, and promote the scholarship of learning and teaching.
The successful candidate will have a medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist qualification permitting registration with AHPRA and recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
- Postgraduate qualification (PhD or MD by research) in an area related to Medicine or medical education, or equivalent scholarly contribution.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities including strategic planning, operational management, and team building.
- High-level communication skills.
- A track record of research and/or teaching excellence in a clinical or academic setting.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and highly developed skills in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and involvement in continuing education.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and disciplines.
