Job Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Finance Manager to take charge of our financial systems and contribute to long-term financial planning. This position is ideal for someone looking to step into a leadership role while gaining valuable exposure to the operational and strategic aspects of finance within a growing business environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
* Prepare accurate financial reports, management statements, and periodic cash flow forecasts.
* Develop and manage annual budgets and provide financial planning support to executive leadership.
* Monitor financial performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective action.
* Establish, review, and improve internal controls, financial systems, and accounting procedures.
* Ensure full compliance with Australian taxation laws, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
* Provide strategic advice on investment decisions, cost control, and resource allocation to support business growth.
* Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, financial institutions, and government authorities as needed.
* Supervise finance team members and contribute to performance evaluations, training, and development.
* Conduct financial risk assessments and recommend policies for risk mitigation and long-term stability.
Skills and Attributes
* Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret and act on financial data.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear, accessible manner.
* Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Proficiency in financial and accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to work independently and contribute proactively to a small but dynamic team environment.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential.
* Minimum 1-2 year of professional experience in a finance, accounting, or bookkeeping role.
* Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.
* CPA/CA qualification (or in progress) is desirable but not mandatory.
