About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to expand our market presence and continue to develop our performance and reputation within WA's construction industry.
Reporting to the Managing Director you will be part of our Senior Management Team and be involved in key business decisions and future strategy development.
The role is focused on identifying opportunities, securing new projects, and building and maintaining long-term partnerships across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategic business development plans to drive growth
• Track market trends, upcoming projects, and competitor activity
• Identify and pursue new project opportunities across WA
• Build and maintain relationships with builders, contractors, engineers, and developers
• Oversee and set priorities for our estimating team in the preparation of proposals and tenders.
• Negotiate the conversion of tenders to contracts with particular reference to managing Cays' contractual risk
• Work with our operations and project delivery teams to ensure successful project commercial outcomes
• Assist as required with the finalisation of contracts including commercial support for variation discussions.
• Represent the business at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings
About You
We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual who has:
• A professional, proactive, and solution-focused approach
• An in-depth knowledge of structural steel manufacturing, including detailing and design (particularly connections)
• At least 10 years' experience in the structural steel environment (or extensive exposure to structural steel)
• A sound knowledge of program sequencing including integration with other trades
• An advanced diploma or degree in engineering
• Proven leadership and motivational skills
• Well-developed commercial negotiation skills
• A willingness to embrace new techniques and skills to match the evolving business environment
