An Australian market leader in freight forwarding, supply chain and logistics provider. Using the latest technology, our client has recently opened a new warehouse facility in Melbourne's west.**ABOUT THE ROLE**
We are looking to identify a Distribution Centre Manager for a valued client. The position will lead a team of 3 direct reports along with a team of 20 indirect reports, taking control of a 10,000 sq/m facility and being responsible for the warehouse and transport operations. The role is responsible for the daily operations, developing process efficiencies, mentoring key staff and working closely with the ownership group. The DC Operations Manager will promote a positive culture, develop and refine SOPs, and train and mentor direct report managers to achieve agreed strategic, cost-based and performance results. The role is focused on critical areas of the business, including WHS, process improvement, warehouse optimisation and contract logistics.**DUTIES**
- Manage the overall Distribution Centre operations
- Support, guide, mentor and train direct report managers with continuous improvement
- Ensure all policies and procedures are updated, maintained and delivered to staff
- Achieve and exceed operational, strategic planning and budget forecasting targets
- Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure all WHS and safety standards are met
- Adopt and maintain a training and continuous improvement program and permanent staff
**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Demonstrated experience managing a Distribution Centre, including warehouse, administration and transport operations
- Previous experience working in an FMCG warehouse, an operation with multiple shifts preferred
- Sound knowledge of current WHS responsibilities with the ability to update and roll out safety programs
- Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure forecasting and planning targets are set
- Experience negotiating and maintaining supplier contracts to ensure optimal service standards are met
