The Knox Made in Watson – Apprentice Chef
We're looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our growing kitchen team.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn from a passionate team dedicated to quality local produce, seasonal cooking, and doing good food properly. As a family-owned venue, we're known for delivering great food and creating genuine hospitality experiences for both locals and visitors.
In addition to our busy kitchen, we operate an in‐house bakery, giving the successful applicant the unique opportunity to develop skills across both cookery and baking. You'll gain hands‐on experience working with sourdough, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods alongside experienced chefs and bakers.
Whether you're just starting your hospitality journey or looking to begin a formal apprenticeship, we're seeking someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine passion for food.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting chefs with food preparation and service
- Learning a variety of cooking techniques across prep, grill, fryer, and pass sections
- Gaining experience in our in‐house bakery, including sourdough production, pastry preparation, and cake baking
- Learning the fundamentals of bread fermentation, baking techniques, and pastry production
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and bakery workstations
- Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures
- Assisting with stock rotation and kitchen operations
- Working as part of a fast‐paced team during busy service periods
- Learning about seasonal produce, menu development, and contemporary hospitality practices

- Availability to work weekends and public holidays
- Previous kitchen or bakery experience is advantageous but not essential
- Minimum age of 15 years to meet apprenticeship eligibility requirements
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
- Completion of Year10 (or equivalent) required
