Groundsman
As the Schools Officer, Grounds, you will maintain safe, welcoming, and high‐quality learning environments for students and staff. This progressive position starts at the lower classification and permits progression to the next once specific criteria are met.
Responsibilities
* Maintain school ovals through regular mowing, watering, and soil maintenance (refer to Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and procedures).
* Proceed lawn and garden maintenance including weeding, application of insecticides and fertilisers where necessary (refer to WHS guidelines and procedures).
* Plant, water and care for trees, shrubs, and gardens.
* Maintain grounds‐care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, tractors (as per manufacturers' service manuals) and arrange regular services.
* Ensure compliance with WHS requirements including a safe work environment, safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuel.
* Assist with removing and disposing of rubbish as required (does not include emptying bins in agreed eating areas).
Requirements
Some travel in private car will be required to businesses within the Gympie Region.
Employment Conditions
Job is classified as a progressive position, starting at the lower classification with eligibility for progression once specific criteria have been met.
